There has been growing recognition of the benefit of health systems providing Whole Person Care (WPC) that can address the physical, mental, and social needs of an individual as part of a single care plan. Since HCIS© opened our doors in 2004, we’ve learned many important lessons that inform our WPC program model.

Physical Health Issues

Treating physical health issues that cause students to experience certain strains in life can reduced likelihood of engagement in delinquent behavior.

School-Based Clinics

School-based clinics can be a very effective and efficient means of addressing issues such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, obesity, and high school dropout.

Comprehensive Screening

There is a need to provide more comprehensive screening programs that identify unaddressed physical and behavioral health issues simultaneously.

Apprenticeship Programs

Career technical education (CTE) and apprenticeship programs in high schools are particularly effective for in increasing on-time graduation.

ACEs and At-Risk Youth

Childhood trauma and adverse childhood events (ACEs) underpin many physical, mental, and emotional health needs of at-risk youth.

Student Observations

“I have seen a lot of people come into the clinic and feel like they help. Instead of going to a bigger clinic they just come here to get help.”
